Excellent 24″ tv with features that only come available on larger LCD/LED sets. The picture quality is stunning. The sound is not amazing but adequate enough for bedroom viewing. The NETtv feature is excellent for streaming movies via internet with apps Netflix, Cinemanow, Blockbuster, and Vudu. The only negative about set is the stand in which the tv sits on. It is constructed horribly and quite flimsy. For all the features this tv comes with, it’s an exceptional value for the money.

  • Customer Rating Great TV, 2011-07-31

This has a very clear picture (1080p resolution). It has built-in WiFi, Internet capable, USB and a lot of extras that other TV’s this size do not have. The connections are HDMI, Ethernet Port (RJ45), component, composite, USB. The built-in speakers produce a good sound. It has a back lighting system, game port etc… I think this is an exceptional TV for the money. Great buy.

The Toshiba 24SL415U LED HDTV is an excellent addition to my Office PC/Home Theater System. It has a large number of cable ports to allow for the connection to and from all of my other stand-alone components.Set-up is most intuitive and easy. Visual depth and clarity are outstanding. Audio without connection to an AVR is at most acceptable. Connected to an AVR, the audio is stunning.Based upon many years of ownership of various HDTV’s and PC display monitors, I find the price for this Toshiba to be very reasonable. The large 23.5 diagonal screen makes either PC or HDTV viewing a real pleasure. Thus, I consider my purchase to have been a good choice.

Nit-Picking: No back lighting on the remote – just a very small raised point on the 5 and Volume keys to help find them in a darken bedroom. …no current time display. This is the level of issues I have – nothing serious, just inconvenient, considering how long Toshiba has been producing televisions. Oh, regarding the sound – it was fine right out of the box – a previous comment about it might be due to a faulty product or the individual didn’t have the opportunity to go to the Internet to review the “User’s Guide” as regards “tweaking” the sound capabilities, which are fairly complete and potentially complex. That’s right, no printed “User’s Guide”. Hopefully, you have a laptop to take into the room where you’ve set up the unit so you can read, from the downloaded .pdf file, the specific instructions regarding: How to…

Picture quality is not very good in any mode and the media player is very slow when moving through folders., Takes a very long time to turn on. Everything works but not as good as I had hoped.

Customer Rating Superb for television very poor as a PC monitor, 2011-09-03
This review is from: Toshiba 24SL415U 24-Inch
My review will be based on currently owning a Samsung 24″ TOC Monitor. Keep in mind the Samsung is a monitor with a built-in tv tuner, and this Toshiba is a TV with the ability to connect a computer. With those two facts known, I will go forward with my review.

First, the Toshiba is, in my opinion, horrible for connecting a computer and expecting to get correct resolutions and a fabulous picture. I could not get the computer resolutions to match the screen resolution. Either the computer desktop extended beyond the screen edges or I had black bars on all sides of the screen. I tried tweaking the Intel graphics monitors settings on my computer but I could not find a setting that would get me exactly to the edges. I did not matter is I were connected to the VGA or HDMI. That brings me to another point. With VGA connections, your limited to VESA screen resolutions. The highest VESA resolution is 1600×1200. The owner’s manual says the highest is 1280×1024, but I was able to get the 1600×1200 resolution.

Second, the Toshiba is absolutely perfect in every way expect as a PC monitor. It’s thin, lightweight, and has a great picture and sound. I was truely suprised and how good the sound was considering the slimness of the tv. I have tried all the networking features and they work as expected. I’m sure being a DLNA certified renderer makes all the difference in the world. I have a dual band Netgear router in my home and it connected to the 5GHZ on all bands a/g/n no problem.

To finish, I would have returned this if I was overly critical of the poor PC monitor capabilities. But, considering this is a television first and a monitor second I understand the issues. I wired my house for both lan, cable, and phone at all my wall jacks and it is oh so nice to only have the one power cord showing on the wall.

This is my first HDTV, but from what I’ve seen so far, I’m impressed, although I don’t really have much against which to compare it. I’m using it in my bedroom, where it sits next to my PC monitor. Just the OTA broadcasts I have seen so far have looked quite good. Having previously had my Playstation 3 connected to a much smaller LCD SDTV, I’m tempted to replay everything again just to see it in HD, not to mention Blu-ray movies. I had actually been waiting for a good deal on a slightly smaller Samsung LED backlit TV, but found this on sale elsewhere for the same target price for which I had been waiting, so I jumped on it. It turns out that one of the features I had been interested in with the Samsung, the ConnectShare for playback of videos through a USB drive, is actually present in a similar form on this set. Even better, it seems that the Toshiba has a wider range of acceptable formats than the Samsung.Pros: The image quality is quite acceptable from what I’ve seen so far, as one should expect with a FHD display. As an LED backlit TV, it is impressively thin. The set is web-enabled with such services as Netflix available, though I haven’t used them much yet. Setting up the wireless connection was quite easy. The set includes a very thorough universal remote control. The media player, though not as extensive as a standalone device such as the WD TV Live, is a useful feature. For a set its size, this TV has a good amount of inputs, including 3 HDMI.Cons: As others have mentioned, the speakers are a bit tinny. Unfortunately, this really is just seems to be inherent in most thin TVs. With digital and analog audio outputs though, it is easily rectified. Though I have not yet tried it, I am hoping that the several USB ports can be used to power a set of small speakers. Using speakers with a 3.5mm connector will of course require an adapter cable. The set also takes several seconds to power on, and around a second or two to change channels.

  • Customer Rating Would Be a Great TV if I Didn’t Have EARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 2011-07-30
This review is from: Toshiba 24SL415U 24-Inch
This Toshiba TV has great picture quality BUT the speakers are worthless. I think tin cans and a string would out perform them. When the volume was up not even a quarter of the way, the speakers would distort and rattle the TV’s housing!!!!

The power cord is permanently attached and it’s way too short to reach my plug so when I hung it on the wall I had to buy an extension cord to be able to plug it in. The plug in the wall was directly under the TV!!!!!

The power and volume controls are hidden on the side of the TV and they aren’t even buttons, they are touch sensors. You have to physically look and not feel to area to push.

I’ve always loved Toshiba TVs in the past. I hated this TV so much I returned it back to Amazon. Amazon is the best when it comes to returns.

Toshiba should be ashamed of this TV.
