Customer Rating Some problems right out of the box., 2011-01-20

First let me say Vizio products are usually well made. The price for this 32 inch LED T.V. was better than most. But when I first hooked it up I notice all four corners had bad backlight bleeding. The top right was so bad that you could even see it in the bright scenes. I think that LED T.Vs are not perfected yet. Most T.V.s have a little backlight bleeding but not this bad. I have a 42 inch LG and it has a little in the corners when you first turn it on but it goes away after 10 minutes or so. Most of the problems come from the way the T.V. cabinet is attached to the screen. Too much pressure around the edges cause the picture to get too bright in spots. If companies would just figure this out or care more when testing them it would be an easy fix. Also alot of people talk about how bad the sound is and they are right. It really is the worst I have ever heard in a flat screen. I knew this with the reviews and decided that since it was going to be hooked up to a stereo it did not matter to me. Also an easy and cheap fix for most flat screen T.V.s sound is hooking up a pair of computer speakers to it. Decent ones can be found for as little as 15 or 20 dollars. Just make sure the T.V. has the proper hook-ups for the speakers your buying. The T.V. was very nice looking and had alot of nice options. Also the viewing angle was pretty good side to side but up and down was pretty bad so also keep that in mind. The remote felt a little cheap but it worked well. I decided to return it to Amazon after a couple of days due to all the problems. I will say this is the first product I have ever returned and it was very easy. Just go to Amazon and click on return item answer a couple questions and print the label, attach it to the box, and ship it. That is it. I did not want to try another one so I think I will buy a LCD until they get a little better at making LEDs. I have 3 other LCDs in the house and have enjoyed them for quite a few years. The picture was very good other than the backlight bleeding so if you really want to try one it might be worth it to see if you get a good one. You might get lucky!

    Customer Rating Amazing TV, 2010-12-15
This review is from: VIZIO E320VP 32-Inch
I bought this set from Wal-Mart a few weeks ago to replace a 27″ CRT that I’ve had for nearly 7 years, and I am very impressed with it. The picture quality is amazing, clean and crisp. There are plenty of connections on the rear of the set, especially if your running an HDMI capable surround system already for your consoles/blu ray player. The sound from the built in speakers isn’t the best. I own a 5.1 surround system so I mostly attribute the lack of sound from the TV to my being used to hearing sound from it. Other than that very tiny issue, I’d recommend the set for purchase to anyone that I know. Great TV especially if your purchasing your first HDTV on a budget.

I use this tv in my bedroom so im not going for premium sound like others here have done. People make it sound like the sound is just terrible, but its not that bad actually. The picture is absolutely stunning. Crystal clear. Very, very happy to have bought this tv. Perfect for where its needed. For its price at 360, its a steal. Walmart had the exact one for 400 and charges sales tax. Get this tv. You wont be disappointed.

Customer Rating Great Picture… tingy sound., 2010-12-04

We bought this 32 inch LED LCD for two reasons, first the price. We got our on Black Friday for $350 which is the same price we paid for a 19″ LCD a few years ago. We felt this was an outstanding price for the product. Second, we bought the TV for it’s picture quality which is great. I use the product in it’s RETAIL picture mode vice hit HOME picture mode (Home dims the brightness automatically as room lighting changes where as RETAIL keeps the brightness at full). The sound is adequate for voice only and is very shallow. We didn’t get the sound bar as we already had a stereo system to hook audio up to. If you get this TV you will need something else to boost the sound for movies and most of your other content.

Customer Rating great tv but get your own speakers, 2011-01-12
This review is from: VIZIO E320VP 32-Inch
visio tv is great but with most all hd tv’s and especially thin LED ones, speakers are just too small to have good sound. get a pair of computer speakers with subwoofer or hook into a stereo system and you have great sound too. great picture and pretty quick warmup. 2 hdmi inputs too. great price as well.

Customer Rating Awesome TV for the Price!!!, 2011-01-05

Just received my tv and am very pleased. The picture is excellent and it looks even better in my living room than it did when I had seen it in stores. I have no complaints whatsoever in regards to picture quality. The picture is very crisp with bright colors. You will not experience the full potential of this tv without the HDMI cable although you can use it with either standard or S-video cables. I cannot express the difference in picture without one.

The sound however, leaves much to be desired and I agree with many other reviewers when they say the sound is terrible. A very thin, trebly sound with no bass or mid-range to speak of. Once I connected it to my surround system via optical cable(I highly recommend these, the difference in sound is amazing!), the sound was great. You can’t beat this deal and overall I would recommend it highly as long as you have another sound source to plug it into. I gave it 4 stars only because of the poor sound quality. The picture is most definitely 5 stars! Love my new tv. This is my first HDTV and I am happy I made this choice. This is the best buy I could find. I checked many other stores: Target, Best Buy, Walmart, etc…. but the deal here on Amazon blew their prices out of the water.

  • Customer Rating Best Picture Sound not as much, 2010-12-08
This review is from: VIZIO E320VP 32-Inch
Wow, LED LCD provides a fantastic picture. This set replaced a 26″ Vizio that I thought had a great picture. The LED picture is much better and brighter. One thing that is not readily apparent is the power supply.

Most televisions have a transformer on the inside that converts 115v or 220v to 12v, this TV uses an external 12v converter/power supply and the 12 v plugs into the back of the set. This might make it easier to install in an RV or other camping/water option. The power supply is about the same size as a Laptop Power Supply.

Sound is a bit of a problem. It is somewhere between as good to superior to many other televisions, but it is NOT real surround and does not have a sub woofer, so…

Set up: Opened the box, laud TV on bed, took down old TV, swapped out the mount, and had the new set operating within 20 min. Setup was also easy and fast. Weight does not seem that big a deal at first, but this set’s weight is slightly LESS than the 26″ we replaced, another plus for mobile mounting.

If you are wall mounting, be careful to follow the steps to remove the stand neck. Instructions say, “Remove the four (4) screws holding the stand neck, and then remove the neck and base.” Well, only two screws are readily visible. The step BEFORE this reads, “Remove the cover on the stand neck,” which exposes the other two screws. Removing this cover can be tricky so look first and then proceed with caution.

We use this TV as our second set and it is in the master bedroom. I am so impressed that I may replace the main TV before too much longer with the big brother of this set.

Overall this TV is well worth the price I paid and Amazon had the best price of any place I checked. I usually spend an inordinate time pricing things prior to purchase and Amazon was well below everyone this time.

  • Customer Rating Awesome picture, very poor sound. The worst, Jerry., 2010-12-26
This review is from: VIZIO E320VP 32-Inch
We purchased this TV from a large box store to replace the kids’s movie/game tube TV.

I’ve heard Vizio is the “quality” budget tv maker. And it seems true based on a friend who purchased a Vizio as well as from what I’ve read online.

I was pleased to have access to LED technology at such a great price. But what I discovered was that the reason Vizio can offer this tv at such a great price is because they have used the very poorest sound technology that they could get away with and not have to call this a computer monitor (which usually ships with no speakers).

My iPhone/iPod has better sound quality than this tv. My alarm clock speakers are better than the speakers in this tv. The voices in my crazy neighbor’s head come in better quality than the sounds coming from this tv. And there’s a reason.

Vizio is now also in the soundbar business. They are selling external home theater options, which they obviously mean to sell along with this tv. And that’s OK. Some people who purchase this tv will have something already to run the sound through or they may not be bothered by the horrible sound.

So the smart shopper thing to do would be to look at other TVs that cost about a hundred bucks more and have ok picture and sound. You will not touch the picture quality of this TV for a hundred bucks more. But you might get a TV that’s got ok picture and much better sound for a hundred bucks more (soundbars start at about a hundred bucks. There’s one here for sale at 89).

So be informed: if you purchase this TV, you are purchasing a monitor with the least quality of sound possible. It’s bring your own quality sound. Otherwise you deal with something that looks great but sounds like a transistor radio from the 1920s.

  • Customer Rating Sound is as bad as others say but it can be fixed……, 2011-02-15

Sound is horrible, can be fixed by adding a Vizio soundbar for $100.00 or more, shouldnt have to and wish Vizio wouldnt have put this TV out with the sound it has. picture is awesome and great price for TV, I live in Dallas and had this TV the next day because Amazons warehouse is local… I should have listened to the reviews…

Customer Rating Unparalleled Picture Experience, 2011-01-19
This review is from: VIZIO E320VP 32-Inch
I must qualify this review by noting that I’m an amateur audio/video-phile, but appreciate excellent quality in terms of sight and sound. I also work in advertising, and have absolutely nothing to do and/or own stock with Vizio or Apple.

I happened upon a Vizio 32 inch LED/LCD television in a Target store in Utah over the Christmas holiday, and was impressed by the color and clarity, even compared with Philips and Sony. Back in New York, I was shopping around and doing my due diligence for every television in this class and price range, and every search result kept bringing me back to this particular model. I ordered it through Amazon, paired it with a Vizio soundbar, (purchased locally), and connected both with my new Apple TV. This television is absolutely amazing! It is true high definition, without the weird pixillation prevalent on the plasma and straight LCD-only model television sets. (On the downside, the sound is dreadfully tinny, but offset by the equally satisfying Vizio soundbar. I really wanted the Yamaha, but the Vizio soundbar is truly a strong contender. And even surpasses the Yamaha on some levels, but that is another review altogether. )

This small-package home theater is perfect for a New York living room, or any bedroom in any other area of the country for that matter. If you’re looking for an affordable television that delivers… this is the one.

    Addendum (2011/03/30)

I tired of the Vizio Soundbar after several weeks, especially after a trip to L.A. where I experienced my friend’s system: a Yamaha YSP 3050 with a Velodyne MiniVee subwoofer. So, I purchased this outfit shortly after returning home. This combination, paired with the Vizio television, is a match made in heaven… a true home theater system in a Manhattan apartment, without the multiple speakers and awkward placement and wiring. I can’t recommend this product and component combination enough!
