Customer Rating Okay, but power supply is doomed, 2011-05-16
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
We had this TV for a little over a year. It was installed in the bedroom, so it got some use, but not too much. During that time, the picture quality was good as was the sound. No complaints. However, after about a year it started not turning on. I had it serviced and they told me the power supply was gone. Dead. They said it’s pretty common in this Toshiba model and that Toshiba doesn’t even make a replacement power supply. Sounds like the manufacture was defective.

Customer Rating Great Picture, but Flawed Base, 2011-03-18
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
I purchased 2 of these and they both have the same problem. The Tv is very heavy on the DVD-Drive side and combined with a weak base makes this Tv tilt aprox 3/8″ to the left. This appears to be an engineering flaw… someone forgot to take into consideration the weight on the DVD-Drive side.

Great Picture, but I would not purchase untill this problem is fixed !

Customer Rating Not an LED unit, 2011-09-29
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
The Title for this product is mis-leading. This is not an LED unit, just LCD. So it will run warmer and is not the latest tv technology. I’ll post more later after we’ve used it for awhile.

Customer Rating Toshiba flat screen tv, 2011-08-12
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
I am enjoying this tv immensely. It was easy to hook up, and easily set up with the cable system I subscribe to. It is just the right size for my space, and is oh so light in weight!

Customer Rating A Great Value for the Money, 2011-05-21
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
While I have only had this Toshiba TV/DVD Combo for only a month, I have found it to be a great value for the money. The quality and color of the picture is excellent and the sound is very good considering the unit is not intended to be a home entertainment component piece but rather a stand-alone unit for a smaller room. I bought the set for our kitchen, and it is an excellent addition. The ability to watch DVD videos related to cooking, baking, and food preparation is a really nice touch. Although I delayed buying the set because there seem to be so few positive ratings about it online, I decided to take the plunge anyway, and I am certainly glad I did because I have not found any of the more negative issues other reviewers have mentioned. For the price of this set, I believe it to be an exceptional value, and I recommend it highly.

  • Customer Rating lasted one week, 2011-04-05
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
One week from purchase date, remote stop working. Called Amazon and they gave me the option either return it or get a replacement. I returned it and got my money back. Great customer service! I was really disappointed with this tv.

  • Customer Rating Poorly Designed, 2011-09-15
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
The picture and sound are fine. Channel control is problematic and there is no convenient way to exclude channels. Out of the box, it sits unlevel. Apparently, the weight of the DVD player on the left side creates a slight tilt. The tilt is annoying in the beginning, but you will adjust.

I bought the TV in April of 2011. Unfortunately, I did not try watching a DVD until September, after the return policy has expired. The DVD player will not read any DVD I try.

Toshiba has advised I need to send the TV in for repair, but they do not cover the shipping to their facility. Shipping will cost more than another DVD player. So much for warranty.

I bought this TV because I have other Toshiba products that I like. This TV has been a big disappointment.

Customer Rating Sit directly in front of it and it’s fine, 2011-07-05
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
We’ve had this now for a week. The Boss picked it up at a local BB after the clerk recommended it for a PS3 ONT THE SAME DAY Amazon delivered a 22-inch Samsung I buought for her for the same purpose.

I don’t like this at all. The viewing angles are the narrowest I’ve ever seen an LCD screen produce. It seems that 10-degrees off of directly in front of the screen and the picture gets so dark you can’t really see what’s going on, and the drop off is worse if you are more than a couple of degrees above or below it.

Yes, directly in front of it and it has a great picture, very crisp with good contrast and great color rendition.

But if you squirm around or change positions a lot – like me – it disappoints.

UPDATE: Adding one star. The narrow viewing angle is only a problem with on-air or satellite standard-definition content. When playing DVD’s or Blu-rays, viewing angle is less of a problem. It’s still too narrow, IMHO, but it’s significantly better with HD than non-HD content.

  • Customer Rating Know what you are buying…, 2011-05-31
This review is from: Toshiba 24SLV411U 24-Inch
I purchased this for our dining room / kitchen area.
The sound on this unit was very poor and volume minimal.
If you are going to be more than 12 feet away and have any back ground
noise, you will have a hard time hearing what is on. If you turn on the
exhaust fan etc. , forget it !

The DVD player did not operate at all. Every disc I put in ( all newer movies, no copies )
started to “read” and then was ejected. No error messages etc. It was just a dud.

Picture: If you are going to use an analog input ( non digital cable channels, VHS etc. )
you are going to be disappointed. This is an inherent problem not one of just this unit but,
    know that in advance.

If you use an analog input, you are probably going to be happier wiht a plasma tv.
