Customer Rating Panasonic 42″ LED LCD, 2011-04-20
This review is from: Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E30
We bought this set mainly so my wife could exercise on the Wii in the other room and watch full 1080p Blu-ray movies (our 7 year old 50″ Panasonic plasma is only 720p). Set arrived in two days and the box was in perfect condition. The delivery person said there were “white glove” instructions with the order so he was supposed to unbox and set up the TV. We had it delivered to our business in DC (set was to be used at home) so I thanked the driver and said the set up wasn’t necessary. Once home the TV worked perfectly. I’ve had good success with Panasonic TVs and this purchase was no different. Amazon had a great price with 2-day delivery – Amazon’s e-commerce expertise is second to none.

Customer Rating Great Quality TV, 2011-10-03

I was excited for this TV to show up at my door 2 days after I ordered it (thank you amazon prime). I am very happy with my new Panasonic Viera LED HDTV. Some people have expressed having some issues with their TV’s but its possible they just happened to receive a defective one (It happens and those who normally get a bad TV complain while us happy people forget to write reviews). There are no dead or stuck pixels. The picture seems to be great quality. The speakers are about as good as a TV is going to have. I am not sure why so many people expect the speakers in the LED LCD’s to blow your mind. If you want superb sound buy yourself a nice 5.1 or 7.1 surround system. The Netflix works great, not too sluggish, when you have an Ethernet cable hooked up to the TV. It only plays netflix, amazon video but if your really into streaming you should probably look into a Roku or Logitech Google TV (both are around 99$). I played a few PS3 games and I was really impressed with the response time and overall quality picture during game play.Over all the sound quality, picture and appearance are all great and if your looking for a great 42″ LED I would suggest this TV. I plan on following up in a few more weeks.

    Customer Rating Panasonic Viera 42″ E30, 2011-09-15
This review is from: Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E30
My tube TV bit the dust during the last heat wave. My 42″ Vizio is several years old and doesn’t have internet apps, so I moved the Vizio to the playroom and the Panasonic Viera moved into the top spot. The picture on the Viera is crisp, clear and bright. What I like better about the Viera is the picture is more adjustable and I can dim it down at night when the room is dark. You almost need sunglasses to watch the Vizio in a dark room. The Viera’s power cord is hardwired to the TV. This could be better for wall mounting because the cord points down instead of straight back with most computer style power cords. The sound is adequate. I was able to program my Directv remote operate the Viera…. took a few tries, but it worked. (Directv.com’s help menu showed me how) The SD card slot is nice and works well for viewing photos. I’m not sure how well the plugin wireless adapter works, but I will add to this review once I find out. The adapter is sold separately and mine has yet to arrive. I would recommend this TV, the price was great too! Comcast SportsNet HD is outstanding as well as the local Fox channel, which has killer HD cameras for the local news. In HD the picture quality is limited by quality of the HD camera.

  • Customer Rating Exellent TV, 2011-08-04
This review is from: Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E30
All i can say is wow. The picture quality is amazing and that is what i got it for. The sound is okay as it is on most TVs, if you want great sound; get a sound system. The LED makes the movies fantastic, no more increasing brightness until black turns to grey.

  • Customer Rating Great but only one flaw., 2011-07-02
This review is from: Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E30
This TV has been wonderful for us and unlike the other person that posted a negative review I have had no issues with it (if I do I will come back and edit this review).

The only flaw in the design of the TV is the inability to remove the power cable from the back of the TV. This isn’t an issue if you are just placing it on top of a table but when you want to mount it on a wall and hide the cables this will be an issue.

My work around was to run an extension cord through the wall and plug the TV power cable into the extension cord when mounting it. Thankfully the TV has a nice “Cord Wrapper” built into the back.

As always Amazon delivers and recieved my tv within one day..Easy set up..I thought the picture looked pretty good, not awesome. Some shows were very dark, others were nice and vivid..I did a lot more reviewing and decided to try the panansonic tc-p50s30, which I also purchased from amazon.

Customer Rating Very nice TV, 2011-09-30
This review is from: Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E30
I love this TV. The LED technology makes the TV thinner, the blacks blacker, and the picture very nice. For me it’s the perfect size as far as being substantial, but not “my life is my TV” big. This is the first TV I have owned that does not have a relay that clicks when you turn it on. I assume the LED’s don’t take much power and everything is solid state. The mechanical design of the TV is very nice. The screen is glossy which I love, but I don’t have lots of windows in my TV room that cause reflections.Settings that were required for me to like the picture:
    1. set picture to “cinema” on all inputs (they are individual selectable).
    2. turn off the motion smoothing feature in advanced picture settings. The smoothing feature is nice, but it works too well if that makes sense. It can make things look artificial because, well, maybe I’m used to a bit of choppiness I don’t know.I choose this TV because I wanted LED back lighting, IPS panel, and the Panasonic brand. Everything I have ever owned Panasonic has been a good value. The TV has an IPS panel, which is very important to me. You hear about the other manufactures mixing and matching and putting cheaper panels in the same model number and I new I did not want to deal with that situation. The internet apps are OK, but probably average to below average for current televisions. I have Roku and feel that having a dedicated device and a company supporting it makes more sense than trying to buy a TV and expect the manufactures to keep it updated. That’s probably the future, but not now. I know Sony has a TV that will work with Google TV if that ever gets off the ground. Anyway this is not a big deal to me, but some people may want more from their internet apps. The Netflix application on the TV is very nice, but it’s does not do subtitles like my Roku 2 does when available.Panasonic remotes are poorly designed from an ergonomic standpoint (DVD player is lame too). I can’t tell if I picked it upside down in the dark and the buttons are hard to differentiate by feel. The remote is the only thing that is below average in my opinion.I rated this TV four stars because the remote is not thought out very well…. otherwise I’m 100% satisfied for how much I paid. Hopefully the TV will hold up and be a good value.Since this TV is coming down in price I think it meets the needs of buyers that are looking for a bargain on a solid TV with good picture, but won’t care if the internet applications are limited to a few of the most common. I’m very happy.

Customer Rating When it does work, its pretty good, 2011-06-15
This review is from: Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E30
I bought this back in March and it was delivered within 3 days, thank you Amazon! It worked great for almost two months, the picture was stunning. Then one day I sat down to watch something and the image flickered a couple of times then went totally black. The power light just blinked steadily, no picture, no sound. Resetting the power only led me to the same results. Worked with Panasonic on-line support, they referred me to a local repair shop. My TV then spent over a month at their facility while it waited for parts, the end result was the LCD panel itself was to blame. Panasonic then shipped out a brand new TV of the same model for me to take home. I have now had the replacement TV for nearly a month and today the screen is starting to flicker… If I have one more issue I will be requesting a full refund from Panasonic.

Customer Rating Great TV, Great Price, 2011-10-01

This is our family’s first HDTV, and I’m quite pleased with the purchase. We don’t have cable or satellite, so our primary viewing is OTA: the tuner on this unit pulls in stations much more clearly than the digital converter we were using with our old set. Changing the channel is a lot quicker now, too. DVD and Wii look great, looking forward to adding a Blu-Ray player soon. We also stream Amazon Instant Video, great selection. Setup was a breeze. You know how you sometimes skip a part of a setup because you just aren’t ready to do it, then when you are ready you get lost in the menu structure trying to figure out how to get back to setting up that feature? Not a problem with this one, the menues are well laid out.My biggest concern with our TV room is the glare. We have a lot of ambient light, but for casual daytime viewing it’s not a problem with this set. If we’re watching a movie or other “serious” viewing during daylight, closing the curtains solves most of the issues. Sound from the speakers is adequate for TV viewing, but that’s the only thing we use them for. Everything else is run through the receiver. The only thing I don’t like about the set is the remote control. I really don’t like long and skinny remotes, and I wish they’d put the number pad on top and menu/selection buttons on bottom. But after I added the TV to my Harmony remote, I rarely have to pick up the Panny remote.I recommend this set. Great service from Amazon, too. Due to fortunate geography, I ordered on Saturday and received it on Monday. When the price dropped a week after I ordered it, there was no hassle in getting the 14-day price guarantee refund.

Customer Rating Best TV, especially for the price!, 2011-09-20
This review is from: Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E30
I did an extensive search across the whole LED television market for a good 4 months before finally deciding to purchase this TV and I have to say I am 100% happy with this TV. I have had it for a month now and love it. It has excellent clarity but also excellent sound quality, especially when compared to other LED’s. Since LED’s are so thin, they normally are not strong when it comes to sound performance, however, the E30’s quality is great. Combine all of that with the fact that this TV is priced at under $700 at Amazon and you have the best mid-level LED TV. I was comparing it with the Sharp 830 and the Sony ex700 and this one is by far superior. I would have been willing to pay just as much for this TV, as I would have for those two, around $100. But again buying this at $660 allowed me to get a nice TV stand and couches for around the same price. It was by far my best purchase this year.
