Are Bigger Screens Always Better With LCD HDTVs?

LCD Screen Size
When people go shopping for televisions, they usually are thinking that bigger is always better. The truth is, this is not always the case when it comes to LCD HDTVs. There are a number of reasons why a smaller screen might work better. The main reason that people want a bigger screen is so that they can feel like they are in a movie theater. That perception of size can lead customers to buy the wrong type of LCD televisions.

What about room size when buying LCD HDTVs?

When buying an LCD HDTV, you have to consider the space that you are going to be using it in. A tiny living room will not work well with a huge 52 inch LDC television. Your eyes would go bad in a matter of hours trying to focus on that huge screen.

Likewise, you would not want to put a tiny 19 inch LCD television in a huge living area either. The obvious reason is because it would be hard to see, but it also would cause you to have audio problems as well. A large, dense living room can eat up the sound even when you use a surround sound system.

What about viewing area?

With LCD televisions, and particularly HDTVs, you have to consider the viewing area of the room it will go in. One of the few disadvantages in LCD televisions is that you have a limited viewing area for optimal performance. Because of this, a smaller screen sometimes allows for a better viewing area when you set it up.

Weight considerations and display options

If you are putting your LCD HDTV on the wall, you might need to consider a smaller model if you do not have a good anchor to weigh it to. Larger televisions do not do as well as smaller ones when it comes to mounting it on a wall. They also look awkward when sitting on a table or entertainment center. Consider the largest model you can use that still hangs safely and securely on the wall. Also consider where you will be sitting when you are watching. Many models are difficult to see from the side angles.

What about price?

Bigger is almost always more expensive when comparing like model LCD televisions. This is a consideration that you have to keep in mind when picking out the right one for you. Spending extra money for a larger screen when it does not really fit your area is just silly. When you compare all of the drawbacks and benefits of adding size, it becomes easier to realize whether it is worth it in the end.

When you make a larger television set, the picture quality does suffer when it comes to resolution. This is absolutely something that you should remember when trying to decide if bigger is better. Larger screens tend to have a bit more fuzz in the picture, though the technology in this area is improving. Compare the larger and smaller LCD pictures before automatically going with the larger model.
